Making a book is like building a nest…
Hello 2015! It’s a new year of “nesting,” and I have been deeply grateful for time spent with my own journals. I have been journaling my whole life, but at the moment it feels especially significant. So I thought I would share some tidbits about visual journals in the upcoming months. The artist, Paulus Berensohn , suggests “We learned how to make books from birds.” In this ten-minute video, you get the brief version of his bookmaking process which is also part of his life-story in the feature length documentary.
Relocating to Southern California
After 15 years of practicing in the Sierra Foothills, I have relocated to Orange County, in southern California. At this point in time, mindfulness combined with creative practices are my focus. For journaling techniques (albeit with little focus on the psychology of creativity), I currently recommend the awkwardly named “Artstrounauts Club.” It is a very affordable online option of following the artists, Teesha and Tracy Moore, and other artists as well. There are many instructional videos and new content is uploaded regularly.
